Gratitude Journal no. 20
/June 23, 2024
I am thankful for…
1. Long spring/summer days. While there are moments after 5am when I wish my room wasn’t warming and lighting up, I think watching the sun set at 8:30 feels much more “correct” than a the 3:45pm sunset we’ll have in December. Also, there’s something about lots of daylight that makes it feel like one is supposed to eat lots of frozen treats.
2. Friends who I can trust to help. After recently been reading about vulnerability and how it’s connected to asking and accepting help, I’ve come to realize that things have opened up for me the most when I’ve opened up to others more than usual. It’s motivation to continue to learn and practice compassion for myself and others.
3. Family who helps. Same as above. There have been times where I’ve hidden my challenges or misfortunes, normally out of pride or embarrassment. Ultimately, the truth comes out. When I allow myself to ask for help sooner, the misfortunes are minimized both emotionally and in actuality.
If you’re new here
I decided to challenge myself to publish my personal writing more, starting January 2024. From pausing to deliberately reflect to getting more disciplined about creating for myself, I jumped into this goal. For a little more on this journey, check out my first public Gratitude Journal entry.
